SEQUOIA: an exclusive and innovative board for point-of-sale and communication applications

Country, date – Antalis, the leading European distributor of paper, packaging solutions and visual communications products, has added Sequoia to its specialty offer. This laminated board produced by Arjowiggins Graphic and distributed exclusively by Antalis, provides excellent rigidity and resistance as well as a smooth surface for an elegant finished product. The product’s robustness together with its strong environmental credentials and its outstanding printing performance make it an ideal alternative to substrates traditionally used for point-of-sale and communication applications.

Ideal for Point-of-sale applications

Sequoia is perfectly suited to applications that require high stiffness and/or heavy finishing jobs and where a superior quality, attractive end result is vital. With outstanding printing performance on digital UV inkjet flat-bed presses, it is ideal for in-door point-of-sale applications including retail displays, hanging signs and stop shelf applications. It also cuts and folds extremely well, with high flexibility and excellent resistance to delaminating.

Suited to communication applications

Sequoia also prints perfectly on litho-offset presses and is therefore suitable for communication applications such as menus, calendars, folders or inserts, as well as certain stationery, publishing and packaging applications.

Eco-responsible communications

In addition to its superior rigidity, resistance and printing versatility, Sequoia’s environmental benefits are one of its key attributes. The product is FSC®-certified, REACH-compliant, recyclable, biodegradable and compostable and responds to a growing demand from customers for solutions with a reduced carbon footprint.

An alternative to PVC substrates

With its exceptional product characteristics and its environmental benefits, Sequoia is an ideal alternative to PVC materials. The production of Sequoia consumes four times less energy and generates 4 times less greenhouse gas emissions[1]. Indeed, Antalis continues to extend its offer of eco-friendly materials and to support customers’ sustainable development initiatives with adapted solutions, recommendations and a dedicated “green” sales team.

“Environmental responsibility combined with excellent performance is one of the cornerstones of our product and business development, and Sequoia is the perfect example of a product that delivers on both counts”, explains Nicolas Malpiece, Market Manager Print, Antalis International (or local contact). “Feedback from field trials has been very positive as Sequoia provides a unique environmental solution combined with high rigidity and outstanding printing results”.

Sequoia range and availability

The Sequoia range is available in a unique grammage (720gsm – 780 µm) and in 3 standard formats (65x92, 72x102, 120x155 cm) but can be cut on demand up to 150 x 200cm. It is suitable for litho-offset printing with any type of ink, screen or flatbed UV inkjet. It is produced by Arjowiggins Graphic in France and composed of a double top and base coating, a white core of elastic and resistant binders as well as selected natural wood fibres for a reinforced board structure.
